S. M. Ali Jelani Taking projects

Aerospace engineer  /  Islamabad, Pakistan  /  Designing and analysing since 2020

Aerospace design, proven by analysis before it is built.

I take parts and aircraft from design parameters to detailed CAD, then verify them with CFD, FEA and fluid-structure analysis. You get geometry you can manufacture and numbers you can defend in a design review.

External aerodynamics

OpenFOAM · rhoSimpleFoam · snappyHexMesh · k-ω SST

Complete-aircraft polars, stall, trim, sideslip and gust cases, with a grid convergence study and y+ control. The CFD found a flow separation problem early, and the redesigned geometry improved both maximum lift and cruise drag.

You receiveForce and moment coefficients, load cases, verified meshes, design changes backed by CFD.

Flow visualisation

ParaView · Python · LIC · Q-criterion

A scripted post-processing pipeline that turns solver output into figures a reviewer understands at a glance: vortex cores as Q-criterion iso-surfaces coloured by vorticity, and massless particle tracing in the NASA NAS style.

You receivePublication and presentation-grade figures and animations up to 4K.

Structural analysis

CalculiX · ANSYS Mechanical · Abaqus · C3D10

Static, geometrically nonlinear and fatigue analysis of highly loaded titanium and aluminium parts. Flight states built by superposition of unit load cases, mesh sensitivity checked, and geometry iterated until the ultimate and Goodman fatigue margins were met.

You receiveSafety factors per load case, critical-location plots, redesign recommendations.

Internal flow

OpenFOAM · total-pressure recovery · DC60

A diffusing S-duct analysed for total-pressure recovery and distortion at the outlet face. The method was first validated against published NASA experimental data, then used for design.

You receivePressure-loss and distortion figures for ducts, inlets, nozzles and manifolds, and changes that reduce them.

Fig. 10 Total-pressure ratio at the outlet face.

CAD and mechanisms

SolidWorks · API scripting · motion study

A complete vehicle modelled down to every fastener and harness with a scripted, parametric build, checked for interference across the full assembly. Mechanisms are shown in section so the user and the machinist see exactly how they work.

You receiveClean parametric CAD, interference checks, exploded views, BOMs, drawings and animations.

Capabilities

One engineer from the first sizing study to the final report, so nothing is lost between design and analysis.

  1. Design parameters

Sizing, trade studies and parametric sweeps to find the configuration worth detailing.

    Python, MATLAB, AVL, XFOIL

  2. Detailed CAD

Parts and large assemblies, drawings with GD&T, BOMs, STEP, design for manufacture.

    SolidWorks, CATIA, Onshape, Fusion 360

  3. CFD

External and internal aerodynamics, compressible and incompressible flow, heat transfer.

OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, ICEM CFD

  4. FEA

Linear, nonlinear and fatigue analysis, margins of safety and redesign of critical parts.

    ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus, CalculiX

  5. Multiphysics

Fluid-structure interaction and thermal analysis where one physics drives the other.

    ANSYS, STAR-CCM+, COMSOL

  6. Visualisation

LIC, particle tracing and vortex visualisation that make results readable for reviewers and investors.

    ParaView, Python

Every number I deliver comes with its evidence: the mesh it was computed on, the convergence it reached, and the reference it was checked against.

03

Process

Fixed scope, a fixed quote and no surprises.

  1. 01

    Scope

You send the drawing, model or problem. I reply with a plan, the assumptions, a timeline and a fixed quote.

  2. 02

    Model

Geometry, mesh and boundary conditions are built and shared with you before the expensive runs start.

  3. 03

    Verify

Mesh independence, y+ and convergence checks, and comparison with reference data. Nothing unverified leaves.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Native CAD, solver cases and a concise report with results and recommendations, on the agreed date.

04

Send the drawing.
I will send the plan.
